Windy Day

Description

1992, oil on canvas, 130x130 cm (with frame 132,5x132,5x3,5 cm) /// Herberts Siliņš (1926–2001) was one of the representatives of Latvian modern painting in the second half of the 20th century – a colourist whose work combines elements of Post-Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism. The painting “Windy Day” depicts a dynamic, expressive landscape with strong colours and contrasts. The colour palette is dominated by shades of blue, white, black, and red, with accents of green and yellow, creating visual depth and contrast. Abstract forms and energetically applied brushstrokes convey a sense of movement, evoking associations with a wavy sea or nature transformed by the wind. The work is a bold example of Siliņš’ artistic language – conveying the power and mood of nature through colour and brushwork. /// The artist’s signature located on the lower left side of the painting.
