2023, oil on canvas, Ø 100 cm /// The painting, by the Latvian painting classic Kārlis Dobrājs (1943), is one of his most recent works. It features the characteristic tondo format commonly found in Renaissance times. And the motif of a woman with a parasol creates reminiscences with the works of the Spanish old master Goya and the French Impressionists. The piece is created in the classical style of Dobrājs - with an accent on volume modelling of the figure, nuances of lights and shades, and tonal transitions. /// The artist's signature and dating are on the lower right.
