2022, acrylic, glue, paper on cardboard, 49x29 cm /// Artist Dmitrijs Lavrentjevs (1970) started to with the decoupage technique 20 years ago and has created several collections of decoupage works. The artwork “Green Venus” portrays a recurring motif emblematic of the artist’s style, appearing multiple times throughout the artist’s body of work, each iteration imbued with distinct meanings, variations in form, and intricate details. In the author’s interpretation, the green figure of the ancient Roman deity Venus embodies the idea of vitality and a timeless feminine archetype. The work “Green Venus” was exhibited in the artist’s solo exhibition “Apocalypse” at the end of 2023 in the gallery “Art Platz”, Riga, Latvia. /// The artist’s signature and date are on the lower left.
