Swimmer II

Description

2021, decal on porcelain plate, Ø 33 cm /// Rita Pranča (1970) is a professional ceramic artist and painter. She graduated with a master’s degree from the Art Academy of Latvia. The versatile use of various artistic media characterises her creative style. Among the diverse themes explored in her work, she pays particular attention to feminist movement ideas, offering a unique perspective on the world through a female artist’s lens while incorporating masculine images in her work. One of the recurring themes in her work is the relationship between the body, space, and identity. The artist has organised 6 solo exhibitions and participated in 38 group exhibitions, including international porcelain and ceramics symposiums. Her porcelain plate series, “Swimmer”, portrays a human silhouette. By employing contrasting colours, clean lines, and minimalist composition, the artist creates a dynamic and poetic image that metaphorically reflects the relationship between human form, space, movement, and self-expression. /// The artist’s signature is on the lower right.
